The motif of hana-ikada (“flower raft”) evokes the poetic image of fallen cherry petals floating on the water’s surface, drifting together like a raft. The moment when cherry blossoms scatter in the air embodies both transience and beauty, yet when the petals come to rest upon rivers or ponds, quietly flowing away, this scene is given a new name: hana-ikada. Knowing this expression allows us to appreciate cherry blossoms from another perspective, deepening their charm and cultural resonance.

・Handmade — One by One
Every piece from Japan Classic is formed and fired entirely by hand, in small quantities, one at a time. No two are ever exactly alike.
These handcrafted works carry slight variations in shape, weight, and surface, bearing the subtle marks of true craftsmanship rather than mass production.
・Living Glaze
On glazed pieces, you will find fine crackle patterns—known in Japan as kannyu (貫入)—naturally created as the glaze cools after firing.
This delicate finish evolves with time, reflecting the quiet beauty found in wabi-sabi ceramics.

Inspired by Japan’s timeless aesthetic, every piece by Japan Classic blends tradition with modern versatility.
Whether for rice, soups, or shared plates, these refined tablewares are designed for everyday beauty, maintaining their grace in both Eastern and Western settings.
