This design draws inspiration from the celebrated folding screen painting by Tawaraya Sōtatsu, depicting the deities of wind and thunder. Fūjin, the Wind God, releases gusts from his great bag to bring forth wind and rain, while Raijin, the Thunder God, strikes drums to summon thunder and lightning. The original masterpiece is housed at Kennin-ji Temple in Kyoto.
