“Thread Chrysanthemum” Companion Chopsticks

The chrysanthemum carries symbolic meanings such as nobility, refinement, longevity, protection from evil spirits, and harmony of mind and body. These flower meanings are deeply tied to its cultural role in Japan.

As one of the most significant flowers in traditional Japanese culture, chrysanthemums are prominently displayed during seasonal celebrations and rituals. It is customary to adorn spaces with chrysanthemums during the New Year, Boys’ Festival, and Shichi-Go-San (celebration of children at ages 3, 5, and 7). Such customs stem from long-held beliefs: “Displaying chrysanthemums will help children grow well” and “Chrysanthemums bring good fortune.”
