Indigo, deep in the shinogi grooves and thin over the ridges between. 11.7 cm across, 6 cm deep — room for a full bowl of soup. Kiyohide Yokoi cuts the ridges by hand in Gifu, then glazes; where the blade went deeper, the colour gathers darker.

Every piece from Japan Classic is formed and fired entirely by hand, in small quantities, one at a time. No two are ever exactly alike.
These handcrafted works carry slight variations in shape, weight, and surface, bearing the subtle marks of true craftsmanship rather than mass production.
・Living Glaze
On glazed pieces, you will find fine crackle patterns—known in Japan as kannyu (貫入)—naturally created as the glaze cools after firing.
This delicate finish evolves with time, reflecting the quiet beauty found in wabi-sabi ceramics.
・Elegance
Inspired by Japan’s timeless aesthetic, every piece by Japan Classic blends tradition with modern versatility.
Whether for rice, soups, or shared plates, these refined tablewares are designed for everyday beauty, maintaining their grace in both Eastern and Western settings.
